COURSE DESCRIPTION
Module #4: Anger Management
Introduction to the notion of externalising anger with examples given for pre-schoolers through to primary/elementary students. Emphasis is on a visual approach. Combining externalising with a metacognitive strategy. The notion of Stress Inoculation for older subjects and how this can be applied through a metacognitive strategy. Dr Baron Levi introduces an innovative self-coaching technique for adolescents. Case studies are included giving examples of how the various anger management strategies have been successfully implemented.
Module #5: Essay Writing
Introduction to the WrAP (Writing Assignment Planner), developed by Dr Baron Levi for young people with compromised learning. Experience has shown that young people with compromised learning fail to address the important aspects of the question, fail to expand on their ideas and fail to structure their responses. The WrAP takes the young person through a series of structured steps to assist in the planning, preparation and writing of an essay or assignment. Dr Baron Levi has used the WrAP with primary/elementary students through to tertiary students. Examples and exercises are included in this module.
Module #6: Memory
Different types of memories are explained. Use of a Fish Dish to keep important items. Working Memory is discussed: it is critical to learning and problem solving. How to strengthen working memory. Visualising and verbalising. Mnemonics explained and how to use them to improve memory. Examples provided. Case studies from real clients using a metacognitive strategy to improve memory for staying on task.
